TIGER GRANT
The National Department of Transportation announced the TIGER II Discretionary Grants Program in April of 2010. The TIGER II Grant is a 600 million dollar competitive grant program for surface transportation projects. Pre-applications are due June 16, 2010 and final applications are due August 23, 2010. The NCCMAC TIGER II application is underway.
CDOT was one of more than 1400 applicants from 50 states to apply for the TIGER grant. Even though the “Roads, Rivers, and Recovery” project was not named as one of the 51 projects awarded a grant, the need is still there and NCCMAC partners are “shovel” ready to go as soon as funds are available.
The project met all the criteria established for selection by improving the safety, quality of ride, reducing delays and showing a significant stimulation of the job market in short term construction jobs and long term tourism and recreation based jobs. The added benefit of the cleanup of the superfund site and restoration of aquatic life to North Clear Creek made possible by the NCCMAC partnership is especially compelling.
Below you will find links directly to the application itself and an executive summary of the application. Supporting documentation is included in the application and additional information is available on the tabs listed above.
